The Lyrical Assassins Brotherhood Poetry

Brave Enough

Life has a way of breaking us down, but the character of a person is judged by the amount of time he or she gets up.  Society believes we are not brave enough and we will fall victim to the poison they shove down our throats. We are writers, poets and dreamers and we are more then brave… We are survivors.

The purpose of this experiment is to encourage each other with our pen, our lives and our testimony. I look forward to see how YOU write this one out.

  5. I reached out my hand to rescue my soul
From this scatter brain world where I had lost all control
Drifting through life looking to exhale
But the death of my dreams made ambitions turn pale
    Gray Skies
    And broken hearts
    More Lies
    Blank stares
    Time for me to depart
I’ve slipped into a catalyst where no human dare to enter
Streamlining my destruction, failure deep rooted into the placenta
Mentioned in whispers so no one remembers my name
Show cased in a distance where all people saw was pain
    How do I regain
    My sanity, I’m insane
    And its clear and evident
    That destruction on my brain
Screaming I am a man, and my fears made me tough
Seems like I was really scare, I just was not brave enough

  6. Reflection

Fighting against the looks and whispers. Constant laughs and pointing form people in my path. Walking and watching them as they say things about me. through all of their perpetual mockery something inside me tells me to press on. To keep my head up and fight back. I can hear them call me insane, freak, and say that I should be locked up. Little do they know that their words of judgement make me smile and help me to continue to write the way I do. I am here to show you that your words have no affect on me. I am Sarah and no matter what I will never change. Are you spirited enough to walk through the silent stares with the satisfaction that no matter what, you are not ashamed to be who you are? How brave can you truly be?

    I used to be weak
    Insecure, apprehensive and unconfident
    Now I am immune
To the torture and the nonsense
    So long ago
I used to be afraid and scared
Until they tossed me in the fire
    And that made me prepared
I tried to bypass my problems
    But that never worked
I learned to strategize my efforts
On better ways to solve them
    I evolved into a warrior
    And I calculate my moves
    My wounds have healed
    My intellect must improve
    I am brave enough
    To speak out and against
    The stereotypical views
    That society dispense
    Movie screens and t.v. shows
    Reply the same content
    Manipulating ill minds
    Catalyzing your descent
    Trillion dollar deficit
    The congress men are crooks
    Rewriting laws in the books
And they steal from the desperate
    If I don’t fight
Then my future will be crippled
    The world isn’t right
    Beware of the ripples
    I know I am brave
    But will it be enough
    The war is around me
    I must remain ruff…

  8. Brave Enough
    By David Cardenas

He lay perfectly still, patiently waiting
Hoping life would pass him by
His faith and his dreams were escaping
Oozing and he wasn’t even asking why
See, he thought about all the times he got up
But eventually wound up back on his face
Was it life or his aura that left him caught up?
Or was he destined to lay in this place?
From the ground he heard the devil whisper
    “Don’t get up… What’s the use?
He closed his eyes and the air became crisper
And he mentally struggled on his next move
Was he brave enough to get up again?
Or was being brave, being able to admit defeat
As he laid there, the pain began to sink in
In anger, he begin to clinch his teeth
He whispered back to the devil, “You lose!”
And he slowly started to get up
He realized there would always be an excuse
And his fate would never be set up
So he dusted off the dirt and began to fight
Agonizing in pain, he began to lift his eyes
“I do it not for the victory or to be right”
I do it because I am brave enough to see past the lies

Nice imagery and your words described what a lot of people go thru in their day to day lives. Good poetry.
